My philosophy as a doctor and skin expert is that we need to feed our skin well on the inside in order to see healthy skin on the outside. Remember that the skin is a complex organ and like the rest of the organs in our body, if we feed it with the wrong foods it won’t be happy.
How many of us have stuffed our faces with junk food over a weekend, only to start the week feeling tired, sluggish and unwell. Our skin is no different, feed it badly and it will complain by looking spotty, tired, dull and lifeless.
We all know the basic rules to follow for great skin, and these should be the same all year round. So go back to basics and make sure you eat a nutritionally healthy, skin boosting diet, packed full of vitamins, minerals and anti-ageing antioxidants.

My top skin boosting foods to eat:

Take advantage of these nutty nibbles and sumptuous fruits:

Go Nutty: Omega 3 fatty acids found in nuts can help to feed our skin with vital nutrients to keep the skin healthy and strong. Did you know that eating a handful of almonds each day can also reduce heart disease and boost your immune system too.
Pomegranate: This delicious fruit is claimed to be effective against heart disease, high blood pressure, inflammation and is a great source of fibre. Containing vitamins A, C and E, iron and other antioxidants make this fruit your skin’s best friend whilst in season!
Blackberries: These nutritious yet yummy berries are a great source of Ellagic acid which is an antioxidant that protects the skin from UV damage! Additionally, the high vitamin C content is superb for helping to hold back skin ageing.
Cranberries: We all know the benefits of cranberries for urinary infection but they are terrific for your skin too. Packed with antioxidants they protect skin from damaging free radicals which are responsible for skin ageing. The seeds contain Omega-3 too which as mentioned before, keep the skin healthy.

And don’t forget:

Sleep: Sleep is a time where every cell in our body renews and repairs, so getting a good nights kip will help you to keep your skin in tip-top condition.
Water works wonders: Keep well hydrated, aiming for at least 6-8 glasses of water through the day. Try to keep alcohol and caffeine to a minimum.
At Nuriss, a series of weekly Hydratite facials will help to boost radiance and leave your skin looking smoother, fresher and more lifted. Combining the cleansing and exfoliating benefits of the Hydrafacial, with the collagen boosting and skin tightening benefits of the Exilis Elite, this is a great 2 in 1 treatment schedule, that will supercharge your skin’s health, layer by layer, strengthening and repairing at a cellular level.
