What are moles?

 In

Moles are small concentrations of pigment made by cells known as melanocytes. They are also commonly known as freckles or sunspots on skin. There are several types of moles; small round flat ones (junctional melanocytic naevi), pale raised ones that sometimes contain hair (dermal melanocytic naevi) and raised brown hairy ones (compound melanocytic naevi).  Most of these are harmless and can fade or change due to hormonal changes in the body. However, it is important to check moles annually to catch any potential changes or cancer early.
